Frequently Asked Questions
Nonprofit Partners

Q: My organization doesn’t allow minors to volunteer. Can we still partner with CARE?
A: Absolutely! While providing volunteers is part of what we do, CARE offers much more. We will provide you with a private form where you can request clothing, food, office supplies, or other resources to support your organization’s needs. Our student groups from local schools will work to fulfill these requests through initiatives like food drives or fundraisers.

Q: How can we trust the reliability of CARE chapter schools without a direct connection?
A: Every CARE chapter receives a comprehensive handbook that covers key operations, including volunteer coordination, case management, training, and fundraising. New chapters also participate in training sessions led by experienced volunteers and CARE team members. Additionally, the CARE team actively oversees each chapter’s progress and maintains ongoing communication to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Q: If my organization needs a resource ASAP, can CARE still fulfil that request?

A: CARE can fulfil your request, no matter the timing. We’ll work with our chapters to find efficient ideas to complete the case. You’ll be able to view all updates on the case in real time and send any notes or pointers to the chapter handling your case. If we deem it neccesary, the CARE team can take on a case to ensure a speedy process.

Volunteers/Chapters

Q: How can we connect with a cause or organization meaningful to us that isn’t currently part of CARE?
A: We’re always eager to expand our impact! If there’s a cause or organization you’re passionate about, our development team can explore integrating a nonprofit in that area of service into the CARE network. If you know of an organization that could benefit from CARE’s support, let us know, and we’ll reach out to establish a connection.

Q: Why start a CARE chapter instead of connecting with an organization independently?
A: Starting a CARE chapter provides access to numerous opportunities, including personalized training from experienced volunteers and the chance to collaborate with like-minded peers at your school. Most importantly, CARE streamlines the process, enabling you to connect easily with a variety of organizations tackling diverse issues.

Q: Do I need volunteer experience to get involved?
A: There is no need to worry about joining CARE even if you don’t have experience. CARE offers one-on-one training with experienced volunteers and team members to set you up for success. When it’s time to take on your first case, we’ll guide you through every step of our case management process.

Q: What if my school doesn’t allow me to start a club?
A: Don’t worry! You can still start a CARE chapter. Find a few like-minded peers, spread the word through emails, texts, or social media, and invite others interested in community service to join. Hold an informational meeting to introduce CARE and establish a regular meeting schedule. From there, you can operate just like any other CARE chapter.

Q: What if no one joins my club?
A: There are some good strategies that can help recruit members. Set up a table at your school’s club fair, send emails to your school or sports team, or create a social media account following the CARE chapter format in the handbook. If you need more ideas or assistance, contact jared@care-ct.org.

Q: What if I don’t know how to complete a case?
A: If you need guidance or feel stuck, reach out to casemanagement@care-ct.org for support, advice, or ideas to get started.

Q: What if my drive doesn’t receive donations?
A: Securing donations can be tough, especially for specific items. Try putting up posters, making social media posts, and sending emails to the community. If you’re still struggling, contact casemanagement@care-ct.org to discuss collaborating with another chapter on your case.

Q: Does a chapter have to be based in a school, or can it be another community group?
A: Chapters can be based in schools, religious groups, sports teams, or any other community group. As long as you’re dedicated to making a difference, we’d love to have you join CARE.

Q: Can an existing club with a different focus use CARE?
A: Yes! Your existing club can integrate CARE’s services while continuing its current activities. As a CARE chapter, you’ll gain access to volunteer and community service opportunities through our platform.

Q: Are chapters required to complete a specific number of cases or volunteer hours?
A: Chapters can choose their level of involvement. While we encourage active participation, we understand that other commitments may limit availability. CARE is here to support you, no matter how much time you’re able to contribute.
